Great book

This book was smaller than normal books but do not let the size fool you. This book packs a lot of punches, the information in the the book is very specific and full of detail. I like it and would recommend this book to anyone.

GREAT BOOK!!!!!! A Book Club Must!!!!

My book arrived this evening, i ate dinner, sat in my chair and cracked the Cover. OH MY GOODNESS... I literally couldn't put it down until i finished a few minutes ago. It was only 100 pages and was packed with thought opening information in comparison with "Rich Dad Poor Dad". Melvin was straight to the point and i felt like i was being educated every step of the way. This book is not only for the Entrepreneur, it should be given as a gift to high school and college students. He breaks down the banking system and and details how everyone purchasing power. I highly recommed that parents make this book a required reading and for book club members to add this to the Top of their list. - "G5"

This is one of the most informative and thought provoking books I have ever read on Wealth creation and I have read several books on this subject.
The book is a easy read and packed with a variety of wealth building strategies. I strongly recommend this book for any one who is seriously seeking the wealth strategies that can truly change your life. I look forward to Melvin's next book.

Helped Me at Work to Get Focussed

This book is exactly what I was looking for. It is a no-nonsense guide to improving concentration and focus.

This practiceal guide is helpimg me stay focused on work

This is truly embarrassing, but I have the attention span of a gnat. My mind wonders from subject to subject, especially when I am bored, which often happens while I am supposed to be working.

This little guide offers practical tips anyone can use to improve the amount of time that is spent on task. It offers several different exercises you can use to work on steadily improving focused achievement. I haven't yet tried them all, but the ones I have tried, really do work. .

But it goes beyond simply providing exercises. It provides a balanced approach that looks at diet, exercise, etc. A small gem I found especially enlightening was that not all fish oil supplements are alike, or even helpful, and it states which ones are rated better than the others..

I read this book because honestly I have trouble focusing on projects. Both at work and at home. This book I felt was a great way to learn how to improve your concentration. It goes into many different ways as well. From activities, tricks, and nutrition that will definitely help you. As well I felt it had some good information on how to get workers to concentrate more on their projects.

Focuses on teaching the virtues

This textbook/workbook not only teaches young children how to complete a key word outline, retell the story from the outline both orally and in a paragraph in their own words, identify and evaluate the characters, setting, plot, climax, and resolution, merge information from two or more sources to write a coherent well planned essay, it also teaches the children about the virtues that the Old Testament saints exhibited in their lives. A wonderful way to integrate writing and Old Testament stories.

Bible Heroes Writing Lessons in Structure and Style (and the accompanying Teacher Manual) is a great program for implementing the concepts of IEW’s Teaching Writing: Structure and Style DVD Seminar (TWSS) with younger students. Although the target audience for Bible Heroes is 1st-2nd grade, the material can be adapted for up to 5th grade. Lessons are multi-sensory, and include verbal and written activities, as well as games for reinforcement. All source material is taken from the Bible. Bible Heroes has twenty-seven lessons, and each lesson took about a week to complete. Lessons are grouped into seven units, covering key word outlining, writing from key word outlines, summarizing narrative stories, summarizing references (report writing), writing from pictures, and creative writing.

Teachers need to either be familiar with TWSS, or be working through the seminar, as they teach this course. The Bible Heroes teacher’s manual tells you when you need to be familiar with a particular lesson in TWSS in preparation for teaching a lesson. This is so crucial – I was very confused as we started this program…but a fellow local co-op member set me straight on the necessity of watching the twelve to fifteen hours of teacher instruction. As my time is limited, I would call this the biggest ‘negative’ of the entire program. But, it’s true, without watching this information, you WILL be lost.

The Curriculum
Bibles Heroes comes with access to two free downloads from the IEW website. One download is the Student Resource Notebook (also available for purchase in hard copy format). It provides supplementary and reference material needed by the student. The other download is the Bible Heroes Teacher’s E-book. The teacher’s guide is essential. It explains how to teach the course, and it has suggested schedules, answers to review questions, examples of possible key word outlines and brainstorming, game and activity instructions, reproducible game and checklist pages, and an appendix about “reward tickets” that you might use instead of grading.

The consumable Student Book provides instructions which are to be read to the student, additional notes to the teacher, and space for students to complete lessons and writing assignments. Appendices include: style helps, game pieces (cardstock), and vocabulary cards (cardstock). Your student will also need a three-ring binder equipped with clear sheet protectors to keep completed stories.

At the end of the second lesson, the “checklist” is introduced. Simple checklists are included in the student book so they can double check that they have paid attention to important elements in their paragraph. Checklists vary depending upon the assignment. Printable pages with the checklists are also in an appendix at the back of the teacher’s manual.

Almost every lesson includes a game, and there are vocabulary games in an appendix in the teacher’s manual that can be used at any time. At the back of the student book are 56 pages of cards and images for games and activities, all printed on card stock. Game components are all included, with the exception of a die. Most of the games can be played with only one child, but there are a few games that just won’t work well without two or more children.

Our Experience
Each lesson features a different Bible hero and stories that stress positive character traits. The biblical content shows up in most lesson activities. The first session of each lesson begins with a very brief review followed by the introduction of the Bible verse, Bible hero, and a virtue. We read through the Bible story and worked on a key word outline to help narrate the story orally. On the second day of the lesson, he dictated a paragraph from his outline and began working on lesson activities in the student book. For the rest of the week, he worked on paragraph revision until we reached a final product that he was proud to show his Daddy!

My 2nd grader has dyslexia and an auditory processing disorder, but the IEW program worked well for him. He enjoyed writing about Bible characters, and the IEW method of imitating good writing gave him success and boosted self-confidence in his writing abilities.

Overall, I think that this is a solid program that is great for the traditional homeschool family. It was a little structured for my taste, and at times I felt like the expectations were unrealistically high – even though that issue is specifically addressed. It takes quite a bit of time to get the background for their system of teaching writing, but it seems to provide a strong foundation for both the homeschool and classroom setting. I know of many families that swear by this system, and I am planning to investigate it further and continue using the methods with the kids. After all, whether we’re talking about math facts, writing skills, or character, you can’t go wrong with a solid foundation!

Excellent! My 2nd grade son who struggled with writing and remembering what he read found the keyword outline so helpful that witting has become his favorite subject. The vocabulary word cards are also an excellent tool for enlarging his vocabulary. Thanks so much for such great tools to help my child learn to write. I'm learning how to teach with this curriculum too!

About the Author
Preston Blair was a native Californian from Redlands. He attended Pomona College, then studied art at the Otis Art Institute and illustration under Pruett Carter at Chouinard Art Institute (now California Institute of the Arts). He exhibited widely as a member of the California Watercolor Society and the American Watercolor Society in New York.

Blair was one of the fine artists of animation. With the Disney Studio, he designed and animated the hippos in "The Dance of the Hours" and animated Mickey Mouse in the "Sorcerer's Apprentice" (both in Fantasia), parts of Pinocchio, and the segment in Bambi when the owl tell about love in the "tiwitterpatted" speech.

At MGM, Blair directed Barney Bear shorts, and is well known as the animator and designer of Red Hot Riding Hood in the Tex Avery epic shorts. Later, Blair moved to Connecticut and produced television commercials, educational films, and half-hour cartoon episodes (including the Flinstones) for West Coast producers. More recently, he was an inventor of interactive TV systems using animation methods to teach reading or to provide full-figure game action that simulates reality--for example, playing tennis with an animated opponent.

Blair died in April 1995 at the age of 85.

Pricey, but worth it.

Most textbooks tend to be on the expensive side, but this one is definitely worth the money. The subject matter is presented in a very compassionate & human manner and is not dry reading at all. I highly recommend it to all people interested in bereavement work, as well as for those in the funeral industry, for which the book was intended.

I Can't Get Enough of Black Mask!

I really love everything that Black Mask releases, and Space Riders was no exception! I finished it in 2 days. Without giving anything away, the story is based around a Space Captain named Capitan Peligro who is traveling through space in his awesome skull-shaped spaceship with his two co-pilots, and they encounter different obstacles along the way. The characters are very well executed and creative and the design and setup is unlike anything I've ever seen. The artwork by Alexis Zuritt was breathtaking and the story was pretty funny too. I really hope they continue this series because I would love to read more!

To heck with aesthetics... sometimes, comics just need to be fun

SPACE RIDERS VOLUME 1 collects the first 4 issues of what I hope is an ongoing series from writer Fabian Rangel Jr. and artist Alexis Ziritt. I'd never heard of the title nor its creators until seeing a solicitation on a local comic shop's website, but the book's psychedelic art style and affordable price quickly convinced me that I needed it in my life. SPACE RIDERS is rough and unrefined, featuring a choppy plot and coarse artwork, and it revels in it. One year ago, Capitan Peligro of the EISF's Space Riders was relieved of duty following a battle in which his treacherous first mate Hammerhead cost him an eye. Now, Peligro has been reinstated, provided that he can prove he's fit for command. In his ominous skullship, the Santa Muerte, and with new crewmembers Mono and Yara, he curses and brawls his way across the galaxy, encountering everything from space bikers and a sexy green-skinned wizard, to elephantine priests and the remains of a giant astronaut. There's more to the story, but the details aren't important. What IS important is that Rangel has written a lowbrow space opera that calls to mind underground comix and sci-fi B-movies. It's a very quick read, but it makes up for that by being bold, loud, and full of swagger. Capitan Peligro is a man who gets the job done by any means necessary, and I salute him (if I didn't, he'd head-butt me).

Ziritt's art, with its heavy blacks and bold colors, resembles black-light posters of the '70s. His style is clearly influenced by Jack Kirby (to whom the book is dedicated) and Jim Starlin, with a strong pop-art vibe. His landscapes and lifeforms are truly alien. His ship designs run the gamut from geometric forms to irregular heaps of metal. Here, space is definitely not a void; instead, it's full of innumerable planets and stars, highlighted with flames and crackling energy. As if that weren't enough, the paper has an aged and stained look to it, giving SPACE RIDERS the feel of an old comic that someone read regularly during lunch and then tossed into an attic for decades.

This is a great book - all the more reason to support independent publishers.

DOIN' IT THE EASY WAY!

The Real Way To Play The Cat Anderson Trumpet Method (Paperback)

Okay, I'm not known as a "high-note" specialist, rather as a jazz trumpeter, admittedly of some repute. In my opinion I've got all the range I need for how I play (up to a high G), beyond that I leave the heavy-lifting to others.

But, that being said, purchasing and studying this this book by Geoff Winstead was still the BEST thing I could have done to ensure LONGEVITY in playing trumpet. I'm seventy-one years old as this is written and playing better, with less effort and more endurance than I was fifty years ago. This is due primarily to study and practice of this book by Geoff Winstead.

Why? Well, beyond the fact that it's written by a serious pro trumpeter with the chops and experience to prove it, he's also a professional writer! This is a combination that can't be beat because it's written with clarity, brevity and most importantly, humanity. It keeps the human factor involved in playing trumpet (to me the most important factor of all).

Now, yes, it does do exactly what it promises, which is to show you the REAL way to play the Cat Anderson trumpet method. So, if this is what you've got your sights set on, then there is no other book on the market that accomplishes this goal better than this one.

Whatever your immediate or long-term goals for playing trumpet, this book is the top of my (extensive) list of trumpet method books. It's got it all.

Cat's Method Book

I still do the whisper G everyday and I always do the "Preliminary Exercise" after any time off the horn or if I have a really demanding date coming up, there is no better way to get the chops in shape QUICK! This method is not easy, form and keeping the dynamics exactly the way they are written are key! Spend as much time on each lesson as necessary and get to where you can make it through the lesson, if that takes 3 weeks or 3 months or 3 years so be it! Follow this book and the physical aspect of trumpet playing will become very easy which will free you up mentally to focus on what is important....MUSIC!

A must have for the serious player.

Very well put togther. This book explains in simple terms how to build a strong foundation and improve your range and endurance. It is not and was not meant to replace Clarks or Arbans. If used as directed you will get results, HOWEVER you MUST do it everyday. If you are looking for "high note grease" to play a double C tomorrow then keep lookng. If you are serious about playing and want to play with ease, endurance and increase your range then look no futher. As with anything you get what you put into it.

Unlike common criminals who work outside the mainstream of society, in secret, on their own or with a few accomplices, mass murderers almost always worked in large teams, with full knowledge of the authorities and on their orders.� Without exception, they operated within a supportive social context, most often firmly embedded in the institutions of the ruling regime. Unlike terrorists, the mass murderers usually did not want their deeds to be widely known.

How people are enrolled in the service of evil is a question that lies at the heart of this trenchant book. The subject here is mass annihilation—that is, massive, asymmetric violence at close range, where killers and victims are in direct confrontation. This is a huge subject spaning centuries so details of the histoical events are minimal. However I believe that the author successfully made his case about the methodology of tyrants and Progressives used in the last 150 years to effect mass murder
