David splits his time between film school and a job in fetish porn. Life is good until a chance encounter reunites him with Daniel, a former friend and lover. It’s been four years since Daniel disappeared after a dare-fueled encounter with a cabin in the woods. David’s about to learn that their reunion was something more than chance and that Daniel has changed. A lot. Armed with fangs and a fantastic story about the past few years, Daniel offers David a chance at a whole new life — if you can call it that. Theirs is a love story that will bring the human race to its knees. Christopher Zeischegg weaves a tale of friendship, brotherhood, porn, sex and loss. Combining the enduring horror of vampires with an honest and authentic exploration of life in Northern California, working in porn, and growing up, Zeischegg presents a novel that’s both horrific and human.

For any oriented, liberal minded reader who appreciates a brilliantly written, well crafted story & supporting new authors.
By ColleensDragon
This book is categorized as Queer/Horror. It is not my typical genre. It was produced by independent publishing house QueerYoungCowboys. I am not their target demographic. Unless, my genre is any book that is brilliantly crafted and their target demographic is anybody with an open mind to new authors, genres & approaches on age old stories. I think we fit together perfectly.
A quick word to anyone having second thoughts about reading Come To My Brother because it's tagged as Queer, Gay and Porn. Seriously? This is tame by comparison to any modern-day, romance novel available. In this story, those elements are foundations of the story but not it's focus. They add to the overall picture and help define characters, motivations and situations but are certainly not gratuitous or even graphic by today's standards. Please don't let those labels put you off reading this work!
Even if it doesn't sound like your type of book, take a risk. Even if you read two pages and decide it isn't for you, you can consider it supporting the brave small publishers and new authors that take the risks the establishment won't. Regardless of who your favorite writer or publisher is, past or present, they were considered 'cutting edge', 'bold' even 'risky' at some point. For the cost of two cups of coffee out you can show your support for the independents, entrepreneurs and struggling artists just by purchasing this book and that is worth it!
The story interweaves past with present in a captivating way. I am not usually a fan of 'flash back's'. In this work every thing is balanced and so compelling I was focused on what was happening in the moment without noticing I had been taken back into the history parts of the story. This is just one of the elements so beautifully crafted in this work.
The Horror aspect of this book seems to be centered around the vampire element of the story. The plot explored some fresh angles on the theme that I really enjoyed. In particular, their leader and motivation which twists from some surprisingly unexpected angles. Again, neither graphic, nor gratuitous. There is a delicate understated quality to the exposition of all the facets of the story that works especially well in the horror element as what can be more frightening than our own imaginations?
Then there is the relationship facet of the book. This was the part that moved me to tears more than once. Mr. Zeischegg manages to balance ferocity of feeling with fragility of soul and shows what the wreckage of that havoc can look like in the most honest terms I have seen. His writing in this area left me exquisitely melancholy and touched my heart. Isn't that the best art can do in the end? Touch us? I adamantly tell you that Come To My Brother was art for me.
Throughout the book there are a few brief, sardonic glimpses of humor that were of such sharp wit I put the book down to laugh. They aren't obvious and they are dark and all the more savored for those very reasons.
In the end, this Horror, Queer, Porn, Rock, coming of age, love story, while about vampires is completely human. At the foundation Come To My Brother is about self exploration and painful realizations. In this, it is the best I have read. The book is only 251 pages long. At first I was dissuaded by this as I prefer longer books, The reason I prefer them is that there is usually so much extraneous fluff and filler that it takes a fairly long work to tell a half decent story. Mr Zeishchegg's book is the exception that eloquently proves the rule. His prose is scalpel sharp. There is not an unnecessary page, paragraph, sentence or word. This is the type of craftsmanship writing so many of us aspired to in college. Stephen King said, in his book The Art Of Writing "Words create sentences; sentences create paragraphs; sometimes paragraphs quicken and begin to breathe." . Come To My Brother BREATHES!

First time author does a wonderful job at creating a very human vampire novel in this fast paced story about friendship and love
By Spookybell
I enjoyed this book very much. I wasn't sure that I would. I'd read reviews before I got my own copy, so I was preparing myself for some dark intense book that I wasn't sure would be my kind of reading. The book was neither too dark nor too intense, so I just ended up enjoying the story and the relationship between David, the main character and the people in his life. This is a story about these relationships. I loved them all, even the ones that were not so wonderful. This was not supposed to be a book about sparkly vampires, this was far more gritty and real.
What I really liked was that this story moved fast and I didn't have to waste a lot of time reading through the fluff and filler to get to the meat of the story. While I love Steven King and have read almost everything he has written. I am always complaining that he fluffs up every sentence with more words than necessary, which the author of Come to My Brother, Christopher Daniel Zeishegg does not do. That made this a book that I didn't want to put down. The descriptions were vivid and each chapter was solid. Once I got into the book, I was mesmerized by David's story and his world.
I do have a really hard time reading a book. Each chapter made the shift back and forth. It broke the flow for me at first, then it became easier to read as the present day took over more fully. I also got terribly confused because Zeishegg, is also known as Danny, and he named his main characters best friend Daniel. So, needless to say, I kept thinking of the character Daniel as the author as well as the main character as the author. Even though this is a fictional novel, I can hear so much of the authors personality, from what I have read from his online presence over the years, that it is hard to separate the characters from him. That also made reading this book that much more fun.
Vampires and sex go hand in hand, so the fact that the main character is in "Fetish Porn" wasn't a big deal, but I sure expected much more "Porn" in this story. It was nothing more than the protagonists job, this was not a book with gratuitous sex. I think I would have liked a little more sex in the story, but it wasn't needed because this wasn't a romance novel.
I could go on, but I don't want to put any more information or spoilers.
I will suggest that you pick up your own copy and read the book. Now, go on and get it.

Emotional, impacting, intellectual
By Nicole
This is the first novel from what inspires to be a great author. The writing is clean and heartfelt and the plot moves along fluidly. Each character is well developed, yet even minor characters make a huge impact on the story. A definite 'must read' for anyone looking into a non-traditional vampire romance.
